Heel fissures is the term for cracking of the skin of the heels. This can be a painful condition that can cause bleeding. Open-backed sandals or shoes that allow more slippage around the heel while walking are often culprits that cause heel fissures. Skin conditions, such as eczema andpsoriasis, can also lead to heel fissures. The skin thickens as a result of the friction. Wearing proper shoes and the use of deep skin moisturizers and lotions can reduce the dryness associated with the condition and allow the foot to heal.

TESTIMONIAL

I have been a patient at Laurel Foot & Ankle Center for the past year and a half and felt that I could not have chosen a better group of doctors. I find their office to be very friendly and professional. I have never felt rushed and the doctors have always addressed all my problems in a timely manner. The wait time is the best I have ever seen, and my feet are the better for having chosen the team at Laurel Foot & Ankle Center. I would definitely recommend these awesome team of doctors and their very knowledgeable front office staff.
